OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Marla Schweisberger delivered an RBI-single in the bottom of the sixth to score the game's only run as Missouri (44-9) defeated Baylor (37-20) 1-0 in the semifinal round of the Big 12 Tournament at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium Saturday night.
"I thought tonight was a game we could have won," head coach Glenn Moore said. "We just didn't execute a few things, but this was a good weekend for us and we will be ready for the NCAA Tournament."
Scoreless through 5.5 innings, Andee Allen delivered a one-out triple that led to Schweisberger's two-out single up the middle for the 1-0 lead and win.
Baylor had an opportunity in the top of the third, as Megan Turk led off the inning with a single, Baylor's first hit. With two outs, Tiffany Wesley hit a double down the right field line to put runners at second and third, but a Bree Hanafin fly out to right center ended the threat.
The Lady Bears got a leadoff hit-by-pitch by pinch hitter Jordan Vannatta, and KJ Freeland reentered to run. With two outs, and runners at first and third, Alex Colyer grounded towards second, only to see the second baseman make a great stop and turn throw for the third out.
Baylor await its NCAA Tournament destination with the selection show beginning at 9:00 p.m. on ESPNU. Fans are invited to watch with the team in the Stone Room at the Ferrell Center with doors opening at 8:00 p.m.
