NCAA Stillwater Regional First Round Results in PDF Format

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Baylor men's golf team is five strokes back of the leader in seventh place through the first round of the NCAA Stillwater Regional Thursday at Karsten Creek Golf Club.

Baylor shot a first-round 13-over 301 and trails host Oklahoma State, which leads the field by two strokes with an 8-over 296. Chattanooga, Arkansas and LSU are tied for second overall at 10-over 298, followed by TCU and Tulsa in a fifth-place tie at 11-over 299.

Northwestern and Pepperdine are in eighth place at 14-over 302; Michigan State and Wichita State are tied for 10th at 18-over 306. Denver is in 12th place with a 24-over 312, while Oral Roberts rounds out the field at 31-over 319.

Three individuals are in the top five through the first round; South Dakota State's Trent Peterson leads the field with 5-under 67. LSU's John Peterson is in second place with a 2-under 70. Louisiana-Lafayette's Devin Carrey, SMU's Kelly Kraft and Arkansas' Ethan Tracy are in a third-place tie at 1-under 71.

Freshman Joakim Mikkelsen recorded Baylor's low score Thursday, finishing the first round tied for 11th overall after shooting a 1-over 73. Mikkelsen fired an even-par on the front nine before carding three birdies on the back nine. Cody Paladino enjoyed a solid opening round with a 2-over 74, bouncing back from a rough outing at the Big 12 Championship. Paladino carded both a birdie and a bogey on the front and back nine.

Senior Bill Allcorn, who finished second at the 2009 Big 12 Championship in Hutchinson, Kan., two weeks ago, was scratched from Baylor's lineup early Thursday morning after hurting his hand during Wednesday's practice round. Replacing Allcorn was redshirt freshman Lorenzo Scotto who carded an eagle on the par-5 18th hole to finish at 4-over 76.

Austin Berkovsky and Colton Williams finished tied for 46th and 56th places, respectively. Berkovsky birdied two of the final three holes to shoot a first-round 6-over 78. Two-over through nine holes, Williams bogeyed the 10th, 11th and 16th holes to finish at 7-over 79.

The NCAA Stillwater Regional continues Friday with the second round beginning with the first group at 8 a.m. All five Baylor golfers will tee off from the No. 10 hole, beginning with Williams at 10:10 a.m., followed by Berkovsky at 10:20 a.m., Scotto at 10:30 a.m., Paladino at 10:40 a.m. and Mikkelsen at 10:50 a.m. Live scoring will be available at BaylorBears.com.
