A Meagan Weldon RBI-double in the bottom of the second proved to be the game winner, as freshman Whitney Canion picked up her ninth shutout of the season en route to Baylor's (29-14, 5-3) 2-0 victory over Oklahoma State (27-11, 3-3) Sunday afternoon at Getterman Stadium. The home conference sweep was the first for the Lady Bears since April 14-15, 2007 against OSU.
Canion (17-11) went 7.0 innings, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out nine, tying her with Cristin Vitek for the Baylor record for strikeouts in a season with 264.
Courtney Oberg delivered a one-out single in the bottom of the second, and came around to score on Weldon's double down the left field line for a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Bears added to the lead in the third, as Bree Hanafin led off the inning with her team-tying fifth home run of the season for a 2-0 advantage.
Kayce Walker had the only other Baylor hit on the day, extending her hitting streak to seven games with a single in the sixth.
The Cowgirls managed just three hits on the day, all coming from the bat of Sam Heinlein, who went 3-for-3.
The pink uniforms worn by the Lady Bears on Saturday were auctioned off, as the team raised $2,670 for the Susan G. Komen Fund.
Baylor will return to action on Tuesday, April 7 to take on Texas State at Getterman Stadium with first pitch beginning at 6:30 p.m.
