Box Score

COLLEGE STATION - A two-out, two-run home run by Natalie Villareal in the bottom of the sixth gave Texas A&M (27-15, 5-5) a 5-4 come from behind victory over Baylor (32-16, 8-4) Wednesday night at the Aggie Softball Complex in College Station. All nine runs in the game were scored with two outs, as the teams exchanged lead changes twice.

The Lady Bears outhit A&M 8-4, with three of those hits coming on extra-base hits.

Whitney Canion (20-12) took the loss, walking seven, allowing five runs, two earned and striking out 11 in six innings. The lefty registered her 15th 10-plus strikeout game of the year.

A&M got the leadoff runner on in the bottom of the sixth after Kara Rau was plunked by a pitch. But with two outs Villareal hit a line drive over the right center fence to give the Aggies a 5-4 advantage.

Tiffany Wesley led off the seventh with a single to right and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Reagan walked with one out to put two runners on, but Villareal dove to catch a Colyer pop up at second and fired to second to double off Wesley to end the game.

Canion worked out of a bases loaded jam in the third and the game remained tied at three until the sixth. The Lady Bears loaded the bases, as Reagan led off with a double and advanced to third on a single by Nicole Wesley. Megan Turk was then hit by a pitch to load the bags, and Meagan Weldon was hit by a 3-2 pitch to give BU a 4-3 lead. Baylor would strand the bases loaded, however, as Hanafin lined out to left to end the inning.

The Aggies got on the board first with three runs in the second, as the bases were loaded with two outs and Canion seemingly ended the inning with a strikeout, but a passed ball allowed a run to score to extend the inning. Natalie Villareal then singled up the middle that brought two around to make the score 3-0.

Baylor evened the game the very next inning, scoring three in the top of the third. Bree Hanafin hit into a fielder's choice for the second out of the inning. Tiffany Wesley followed with a double to left center, scoring Hanafin, and pulling within two. Kayce Walker the blooped a double to put runners at first and second, which allowed Alex Colyer to lace an two-RBI single to tie the game at three.

Baylor will be back in action with a weekend series at home against Nebraska beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
