Box Score

The Baylor softball team (25-10 overall) woke up from a 2-0 deficit in the first and scored 10 unanswered runs, defeating the Central Arkansas (15-18 overall) 10-2 in five innings at Getterman Stadium Monday evening. The Lady Bears scored all their runs in the final three innings to extend their win streak to seven games.

Senior Brittany Turner (4-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Shaina Brock, throwing 2.1 innings of perfect ball and adding two strikeouts. Nicole Wesley and Kayce Walker each went a perfect 3-for-3 on the day, while Megan Turk went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

"I was a little worried this could be a letdown game," head coach Glenn Moore said. "I thought we lacked some energy at first, but we battled back and did a much better job at the plate and being aggressive on the base paths."

Central Arkansas scored two runs in the first after loading the bases on an error, single and walk that led to a two-RBI single by Kasey Britt. Brock settled in to record three straight outs, limiting the damage.

Brock found herself with the bases loaded and two outs in the third, giving way to Turner, who got the batter to ground into a force at third to end the threat.

The Baylor bats woke up with two outs in the third, as Walker started the rally by legging out a single to the shortstop and stealing second to reach scoring position. Alex Colyer reached on an error by the third baseman to keep the inning alive, as Bree Hanafin walked to load the bases. Courtney Oberg walked for the first run of the game, and a Nicole Wesley single brought Colyer to tie the game. Turk then delivered a two-RBI double to give the Lady Bears the lead for good.

BU notched two more runs in the fourth, both off errors by the third baseman. Walker singled to third, where it was kicked into the dugout to bring Tiffany Wesley, who singled, across the plate. Hanafin then reached on a throwing error by the third baseman to score Walker for the 6-2 advantage.

With Turner keeping UCA off the bases, the Lady Bears ended the game in the fifth, plating four runs. Back-to-back doubles by N. Wesley and Turk led off the inning, followed by an RBI-single by Kalee Young to make it 8-2. Young advanced and then scored on two illegal pitches, and Colyer delivered the game-ending RBI, singling up the middle for a 10-2 win.

Baylor will jump back in to conference play, as it battles in-state rival No. 19 Texas A&M Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium in Waco. That game can be heard live on 104.9 FM or by logging on to baylorbears.com.
