The Baylor softball team (22-10 overall) picked up a pair of shutout victories, blanking Prairie View A&M (5-12 overall) 16-0 in game one and 9-0 in the second contest. With the wins, the Lady Bears have won four-straight and are 17-0 at home this season.

Freshman Whitney Canion tossed her second no-hitter of the season, walking just one in the opener.

The Lady Bears combined for 25 runs on 29 hits in the doubleheader, and the 18 hits in game one were a season high.

Whitney Canion (12-8) threw her second no-hitter of the season after going five innings, walking one and striking out 13. Eleven Baylor hitters registered a hit in the first game, while had two or more hits.

The Baylor bats came alive in the first, scoring eight runs on seven hits. After a Bree Hanafin flyout, nine-straight Lady Bears reached base, as Courtney Oberg, Sydney Wilson, KJ Freeland and Hanafin each registered RBI's.

The Lady Bears added another in the second, as Jordan Vannatta grounded out to short with the bases loaded, bringing Oberg around to score for a 9-0 lead.

Two more crossed in the third, as Megan Turk roped an RBI single to right to bring around Tiffany Wesley, who singled and stole second. After an Oberg single, Wilson followed with a sac fly to right, scoring Turk from third for an 11-0 advantage.

The Baylor offense was not done, however, as five more runs scored in the fourth with RBIs from T. Wesley, Brittany Turner, Kalee Young and Sophia Lujan.

The 16 runs by the Lady Bears were a season high and were the most since Baylor scored 17 on the Panthers on Feb. 17, 2008.

Game Two

Jenny Isham (1-0) and Shaina Brock combined for a three-hit shutout, as Baylor won game two, 9-0.

Bree Hanafin went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Nicole Wesley and Meagan Weldon each notched two hits apiece.

BU scored five in the bottom of the second, as a Lujan single brought N. Wesley around for the first run of the game. Hanafin recorded an RBI on a fielder's choice, followed by a two-RBI single from Colyer that brought three runs in to score for a 5-0 lead.

The Lady Bears brought four more runs across in the third, as a triple by N. Wesley scored Wilson on the second at-bat of the inning. Young came in to pinch hit, and laced an RBI single to right that was soon followed by a double from Hanafin that brought two runners around, making it 9-0.

The win from Isham was her first on the season, going three innings with two hits, a walk and three strikeouts, while Brock allowed just one hit to go with three strikeouts in her two innings of relief work.

Baylor will open up conference play on Saturday, March 21 against Texas Tech at 2:00 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas.
