Softball Travels To No. 18 Houston

The Baylor softball team (6-2 overall) will hit the road for the second time this season as the Lady Bears travel to No. 18 Houston (4-3 overall) for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Cougar Softball Complex.

Baylor is coming off a 5-0 showing at the Getterman Classic over the weekend that led them to the team title. The Lady Bears hit .341 and outscored their opponents 32-9. BU is 1-2 on the road this season after playing a three-game series at then No. 1 Florida.

The Lady Bears are led in the circle by freshman Whitney Canion who is 4-1 with a 0.93 ERA. The left-hander has 55 strikeouts in 37.2 innings and has been named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week each of the last two weeks.

Houston enters the mid-week double-header after a 1-2 performance at the Marriott Houston Classic, beating NC State, 9-3, and losing to Oklahoma, 5-3 and Texas State, 2-0.

Baylor leads the all-time series 9-4, but the Cougars hold a 4-2 advantage in Houston.
