Oct. 1, 2009

WACO, Texas — Baylor baseball will play its first of two non-competition fall scrimmages against outside competition Sunday, Oct. 4, traveling to Austin, Texas, to face Texas. The game will be a 14-inning affair starting at 1 p.m. CDT at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Admission is free of charge.

This is the third consecutive year in which Baylor and Texas have met in a fall scrimmage. While the game does not count toward the teams’ 2010 win-loss records, it does count toward the teams’ maximum number of games (56) for the 2010 schedule. Baylor also faces Temple College in a fall scrimmage at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Baylor Ballpark. Therefore, the Bears’ 2010 schedule will consist of 54 games.

Fans also have an opportunity to see the Bears in action Friday as they host the annual Burgers on the Berm event at Baylor Ballpark. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with hamburgers, a meet-and-greet with players and coaches, and an intrasquad scrimmage. The event is free of charge, but donations are appreciated and support the Baylor Diamond Girls.

Baylor returns 18 letterwinners from a 2009 squad that finished 30-26 and made the program’s 10th NCAA appearance in 12 years.
