Baylor softball players Alex Colyer and Nicole Wesley have been named first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District VI, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday. With the selections, the pair is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America squad to be announced later this season.

Colyer, a junior outfielder from Houston, Texas, earns her second straight selection to the academic all-district squad as the sophomore carries a 3.90 GPA in pre-med/health science studies. Colyer has had a solid season, batting .306 with 10 doubles, one home run and 12 RBI.

Wesley, a sophomore with a 3.93 GPA in neuroscience, earns her first selection to the academic all-district squad in her first year of eligibility for the award. The native of Baton Rouge, La, has been on fire the last half of the season, as she currently leads the team with a .383 batting average, while also adding 14 RBI and 14 stolen bases.

It marks the second straight season the Lady Bears have had two players on the first team, as Colyer and Chelsi Lake were named to the first team in 2007.

In order to be eligible for academic all-district honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a 4.00 scale and participate in at least 50 percent of his team's games. Freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible.
