WACO, Texas -

Baylor's Lenka Broosova and Jelena Stanivuk were both named to the 2008 NCAA Women's Tennis All-Tournament Team it was announced on Wednesday. The all-tournament honors are the first in Baylor women's tennis history.

Baylor finished the season with a 32-3 overall record, reaching the NCAA Semifinals for the first-time ever. On Monday, the Lady Bears fell to eventual national runner-up California by a 4-3 score. Baylor's only other two losses on the season came to Stanford and Northwestern, each ranked No. 1 at the time.

"I am so proud of Lenka and Jelena," said head coach Joey Scrivano. "They are both unselfish players and would do anything to help the team win. I am proud that they are being recognized for being the best in the nation at their respective positions."

Broosova earns the all-tournament recognition at No. 3 singles after compiling a 5-0 record in NCAA tournament play, with each victory coming in straight sets. The 18th-ranked player in the nation, Broosova allowed her opponents to win 15 games over the five matches. Currently 49-4 on the season, Broosova has set a new Baylor single season record for wins, topping the previous record of 47 wins set by Zuzana Cerna in 2005-06. She is currently riding a 19-match winning streak.

Broosova will continue play in the NCAA Singles draw on Thursday morning with a 10 a.m. match against No. 23 Nadia Abdala of Arizona State. She will also compete in the NCAA Doubles draw with Zuzana Zemenova as the sixth-ranked pair will take on No. 24 Liset Brito and Egle Petrauskaite of Florida International in the first round of competition.

Stanivuk also put together a 5-0 record in tournament play at No. 5 singles, including a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over California's Stephanie Kusano in the NCAA Semifinals to keep Baylor alive in the match. Stanivuk, who enrolled at Baylor in January, owns a 26-4 overall record and was named the 2008 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. She finishes her season with a 12-match winning streak.

Baylor continues play in the NCAA Singles and Doubles draw on Thursday and Friday.
