The Baylor softball team placed three players on the NFCA All-Midwest Region squad the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Wednesday. Brette Reagan and Nicole Wesley earned first-team honors while Kirsten Shortridge was a second-team selection.
Reagan's selection marks the third-straight year she has been named to the all-region squad, and the second time she earned a first-team nod (2006). The junior third baseman led the Lady Bears with a .385 average, totaling 10 home runs, 11 doubles and 36 RBI.
Wesley earned her first all-region bid after having a breakout season for Baylor. The sophomore outfielder was second on the team with a .375 average, 14 RBI and 14 stolen bases. The Baton Rouge, La., native turned it on in conference play, batting .419.
Shortridge was named to the team for the first time in her career. The sophomore outfielder hit .354 with 12 RBI and a team-high 24 stolen bases.
Chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams.
