Final Stats

The Lady Bears had the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth with no outs but managed only one run as Baylor (22-17, 4-9 Big 12) fell to the Red Raiders (17-32, 5-8 Big 12), 4-3 at Getterman Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The loss was the first sweep by a Big 12 foe in Waco since April 18-19, 2003 with a pair of losses to Missouri.

Texas Tech led off the first with a triple to the wall in left center, and with two outs, an RBI double scored the runner for a 1-0 lead.

The Red Raiders added a run apiece in the second, third and fourth for a 4-0 advantage, as three of the runs came on extra base hits.

Baylor started a rally in the fifth as Nicole Wesley and Alex Colyer led off with singles, bringing Jordan Daniels to the plate. Daniels hit a single to right, scoring Wesley, but Daniels was tagged out going to second. The next two Lady Bears players recorded outs, stranding Colyer at third, and keeping the deficit at 4-1.

The Lady Bears nearly completed the comeback in the sixth, as Jordan Vannatta pinch hit and was hit by a pitch on an 0-2 count. Tiffany Wesley came back in to run and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Brette Reagan then singled to put runners on the corners for Courtney Oberg, who delivered an RBI single through the left side.

With Jacobs coming in to pitch, Weldon reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases for N. Wesley, who singled to first for an RBI, making the game 4-3. With no outs and the bases loaded, the next three Lady Bear batters were retired on a fielder's choice, a pop up to second and a groundout to second ending the inning and the threat.

Brittany Turner came on in relief, giving Baylor a chance, pitching 3.1 innings, giving up just two hits, walking one and striking out four.

The loss went to Jenny Isham (10-3) who threw 1.1 innings, giving up four hits and two earned runs.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Wednesday, April 23 as they take on Texas at 6:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium. Cristin Vitek will be on hand to throw out the first pitch.
