WACO -
The No. 13 Baylor Lady Bears (12-3 overall) used a one-hit gem from Shaina Brock and a two-run home run by Brette Reagan to capture a 3-0 win over Louisiana-Monroe (6-11 overall) on Sunday at Getterman Stadium. With the win, Baylor swept the three-game series without allowing a run.
"I am very proud of what Shaina Brock did today," head coach Glenn Moore said. "To come out of this weekend without allowing any runs is a credit to our pitching staff, and hopefully we will be able to get our bats going a little bit more as we head out on our road trip."
Baylor got things going in the third when Reagan stepped to the plate with two outs and hit a blast to left field for a two-run homer, her third of the season, scoring Tiffany Wesley.
The Lady Bears added its third and final run in the fourth, as KJ Freeland hit an RBI single to score Nicole Wesley.
Brock held a no hitter heading into the seventh inning, and with two outs, Michelle Farrell-Fink hit a single down the left field line to break up the no hitter.
The freshman hurler pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout; walking three and striking out five. It marked the 19th one-hitter in Baylor softball history and the first complete game kind since Lisa Ferguson pitched one against Texas A&M on April 19, 2006.
Baylor will be back in action as it begins its 11 game, nine day road trip beginning on Tuesday at Texas-San Antonio at 6:30 p.m.
