WACO, Texas - Baylor freshman Taylor Ormond was named the Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. This marks the second-straight week that Baylor has claimed the conference's weekly award as Zuzana Zemenova earned the league honor on March 3.

Ormond posted a 2-0 singles and 2-0 doubles record as Baylor opened conference play with road wins at Iowa State (6-1) and previously undefeated No. 68 Nebraska (7-0). The nation's 19th-ranked singles player won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 against Iowa State's Kara Hickey after moving up to the No. 2 singles position. Against Nebraska she defeated Jana Albers 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Ormond paired with Jelena Stanivuk as the No. 41 ranked duo topped Erin Karonis and Chrissy Derouin (Iowa State) and Maria Rin and Wivica Swarting of Nebraska.

Fourth-ranked Baylor enters the week at 13-1 overall, 2-0 in Big 12 play. The Lady Bears return to action on Tuesday afternoon as Baylor plays host to third-ranked Georgia at 5 p.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center.
