WACO -

The Baylor Lady Bears (11-3 overall) collected a pair of shutouts from Brittany Turner and Jenny Isham to pick up two wins (3-0 and 6-0) over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday at Getterman Stadium.

"Our pitchers had their best outing of the season," head coach Glenn Moore said. "I thought we responded pretty well to ULM's pitching in game two, but we still have room for improvement at the plate."

In game one, Baylor got all of its scoring on one swing in the bottom of the second. Oberg led off the inning with a walk and Nicole Wesley singled to third to set the stage for Meagan Weldon, who hit a blast over the left field wall for her first career home run.

A 3-0 lead was all Turner needed as she threw flawlessly throughout the game. The junior recorded her first career complete game shutout and also tied her career high in strikeouts with six. In all, Turner pitched seven innings, giving up just three hits, no runs, no walks and striking out six to move to 2-1 on the year.

The Lady Bears got off to a quick start in game two, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Tiffany Wesley gave Baylor a spark as she singled to the pitcher, then proceeded to steal second and third to get into scoring position. After a walk and stolen base by KJ Freeland, Brette Reagan hit a sac fly to right, scoring Wesley. Freeland followed right after, scoring on a wild pitch.

Baylor picked up two more runs in the bottom of the second, as T. Wesley singled to second base with the bases loaded to score her sister, Nicole. Freeland followed with an RBI single of her own to get pinch runner Morgan Craig across the plate and make the score 4-0.

Isham, who improved to 6-1 on the season, was dominant in the circle, giving up just three hits, no runs, one walk and striking out a season high six batters.

The Lady Bears picked up their final two runs in the sixth as Reagan reached on a fielder's choice and advanced when a throw by the Warhawk second baseman got away and went into the dugout, allowing T. Wesley to score from second. Baylor capitalized on another ULM error after the shortstop could not handle a shot by Courtney Oberg, allowing Reagan to score from second.

Baylor will be back in action to finish the three-game series against the Warhawks on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
