Returning to action for the first time in over two months, the Baylor women's golf team opens its spring season Monday at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla.
The Bears last competed at the Challenge at Wolfdancer where the team finished fourth and sophomore Hannah Burke brought home the individual title.
Baylor appeared in the Central District Invitational last season and garnered a third place finish in the 14-team event. Then-senior Allison Martin had the Bears' best individual finish, finishing fourth with a 217 (71-76-70).
Three members from last season's squad, Burke, Natalie Hocott and Sian Reddick, will be with the team this year when the invitational tees off. Last season Burke finished tied for 30th, Hocott finished tied for 54th, and Reddick finished tied for 65th.
Freshmen Lene Hafsten-Morch and Morgan Chambers will join Burke, Hocott and Reddick to round out Baylor's line-up.
This season's field includes: Baylor, Indiana, Kansas State, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Southern Methodist, Texas and Texas A&M.
All the action can be followed live at GolfStat.com.
NOTE: Head coach Sylvia Ferdon, now in her 14th season at Baylor, will not be traveling with the team. Ferdon will remain in Waco where she is recovering from a minor back surgery. Baylor's Paula Young, former head golf coach from 1988 to 1994, will travel with the team instead. Young currently serves as Baylor's Associate Director for Event Management.
