Baylor remains in Waco for its second-straight home match as the Bears play host to Texas A&M on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
After winning its first Big 12 Conference match of the season last week at Colorado, Baylor suffered a home loss to Oklahoma, the league's top team.
The Bears won game one, and had a lead late in game two, but could not hold on as Oklahoma rallied to tie the match at one game apiece. The Sooners the cruised to victories in games three and four to close out the match.
Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) led the way for the Bears with 15 kills and added a career-best 22 digs on the back row. Ashlie Christenson (Cleburne, Texas) added 12 kills and five digs. The Bears also got nine kills apiece from Haley Thomas (Jewett, Texas) and Amanda Modglin (Houston, Texas).
Sarah Grace (Houston, Texas) tied for match-high honors with 22 digs for Baylor. Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas) recorded a team-high seven total blocks.
Baylor started the match with an efficient offense, hitting .429 (18-3-36) to win the first game. The Bears could not continue that momentum after the halftime as the Bears hit .082 (13-9-49) in game three and .149 (15-8-47) in game four.
After starting the season with 10 straight wins in non-conference action, Texas A&M enters the match having lost three of its last four contests. The Aggies lost in five games to Oklahoma and were swept by Iowa State before earning their first league win over Texas Tech in five games. On Saturday, Texas A&M dropped a match at top-ranked Nebraska. The Aggies are led by Sarah Ammerman, who averages 3.93 kills per game.
Baylor returns to action on Saturday as the Bears travel to face No. 1 Nebraska at 7 p.m. at Nebraska Coliseum. The live audio broadcast will be available on BaylorBears.com at 6:50 p.m.
