WACO, Texas - Baylor sophomore outside hitter Ksenia Rakhmanchik was named to the Big 12's "Starting Seven" for the second straight week and the fourth time this season, the league office announced Monday. She earned the honor after posting 48 kills and 52 points in Baylor's matches against Houston and No. 17 Kansas.
Rakhmanchik averaged 4.80 kills and 5.20 points over the week and hit .336 across 10 sets. She added 18 digs, three aces and two blocks.
In Friday's win over Houston, she led all players with 23 kills on .417 hitting and finished with 25 points. The Bears came back from two sets down to win 3-2, giving head coach Ryan McGuyre his 250th victory at Baylor.
Against Kansas on Sunday, the Big 12 leader in kills per set recorded 25 kills, her second-most in a match this season. She also had 10 digs and 27 points. It was her second double-double of the season and the seventh of her career. Her 25 kills and 10 digs also marked only the second time in her career she has finished a match with at least 20 kills and 10 digs.
Rakhmanchik has now recorded 20 or more kills in three straight matches. She has reached double-digit kills in 28 consecutive matches, dating back to last season, and has led Baylor in kills in 18 of its 19 matches this year.
Baylor returns to the Ferrell Center on Friday, Oct. 30, to host No. 13 TCU in a Blackout on the Brazos at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. The Bears will be going for their fifth straight win over the Horned Frogs.
