SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - The Baylor men's golf team shot 317 in the third round to finish in 18th place overall at the NCAA Central Regional hosted by Northern Illinois at Rich Harvest Farms.

The Bears shot 73-over par (309-311-317=937) for the tournament, 19 shots out of tenth place and the final qualifying position. Tulsa won the team competition, finishing at 31-over par, three shots clear of second-place Alabama. Dawie van der Walt of Lamar and Dan Woltman of Wisconsin tied for individual medalist honors at 1-under par for the tournament.

"I'm very disappointed in how we played this weekend," said head coach Greg Priest. "The goal for a regional is always to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Our guys tried very hard all the way through the end. We played in some tough conditions this weekend; we just couldn't get it done."

Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) led the way for Baylor at 17-over par (77-76-80=233) for the tournament to finish in a tie for 58th overall.

Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) and Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas) finished in a tie for 82nd for the tournament. Frye (78-81-77=236) shot the day's low round for Baylor, carding a 5-over par 77 on Saturday. Thomas (73-80-83=236) recorded the Bears' low round for the tournament with an opening day 1-over par on Thursday.

Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) tied for 89th overall following a final round 80 on Saturday. Williams (81-76-80=237) finished the tournament one shot behind Frye and Thomas at 21-over par.

Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) finished the tournament in a tie for 121st overall over the 54-holes. Allcorn (87-79-80=246) finished at 30-over par for the tournament, after a tough start of 15-over par in the opening round.

Baylor ends its 2006-07 season with its tenth straight NCAA Regional appearance, the longest active postseason streak among all Baylor athletic teams. The Bears claimed a share of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate for their lone tournament victory of the season.
