LUBBOCK, Texas --- Riding a nine-game winning streak, the No. 11 Baylor softball team returns to action this weekend as the Lady Bears travel to Lubbock, Texas, to face Texas Tech in a two-game, Big 12 Conference series. Game one between the Lady Bears and Red Raiders is scheduled for Friday, April 6, at 6:00 p.m. while game two for the series is set for Saturday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m.
The Lady Bears are fresh off a 3-1 victory over No. 4 Texas A&M as Baylor looks to start 6-0 in Big 12 Conference play for the first time in school history.
Ashley Monceaux continues to lead the way for Baylor as the senior first baseman leads the team with a .395 batting average, 11 home runs and 43 RBI. Brette Reagan has had a solid start to conference play as she leads the team with a .385 average and four RBI in conference action.
Lisa Ferguson has been stellar for the Lady Bears in the circle, posting a perfect 4-0 record and 0.53 ERA in conference play. For the season, the senior right-hander has a record of 16-4 and 1.52 ERA in 129.1 innings of work.
Freshman Kirsten Shortridge will also likely see significant action in the circle on the weekend as the freshman enters the series with a 11-3 record and 2.01 ERA in 104.1 innings of work.
Texas Tech enters the two-game set on a six-game losing streak and 0-5 in Big 12 Conference play after losing a pair of games at Nebraska.
Ashley Parker leads the Red Raider attack as the senior outfielder leads the team with a .393 batting average and 27 runs scored on the year as Texas Tech is hitting .267 from the plate on the season.
Ashly Jacobs paces Texas Tech in the circle, posting a 13-10 record and 2.35 ERA in 146.0 innings of work.
Baylor leads the all-time series with the Red Raiders, 29-7, as the Lady Bears have won six straight in the series and 10-of-11. The Lady Bears swept the last time the teams met in Lubbock in 2005, claiming wins of 9-7 and 10-2, as Baylor owns a 9-2 advantage all-time against Texas Tech on the Red Raiders home field.
