WACO, Texas - The No. 36 Baylor women's golf team return to action as they host the 2007 Big 12 Championship April 16-18 at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas. The 6,142-yard, par-72 course will host the competitive 12-team field featuring four teams ranked among Golfstat's top 50 including Oklahoma State (11th), Texas A&M (14th), Baylor (36th) and Missouri (43rd).
Texas A&M looks to defend its 2006 championship, while the Bears hope to improve on last year's sixth place finish. Ashley Knoll of Texas A&M, ranked at ninth in Golfstat rankings, enters the tournament as the highest ranked player and will try to defend the individual title.
Baylor's top finish at the Big 12 Championship came in 2005 when it finished third with a three-round total 914 (305-314-295). Senior Anna Rehnholm led the Bears last year finishing third, the highest finish in program history. Senior Allison Martin enters the tournament ranked 36th in the latest Golfstat rankings.
Baylor claimed the team title in its last competition at the Maxwell-Berning Classic, April 8-9. Senior Anna Rehnholm led the way for the Bears finishing second, while freshman Hannah Burke finished fifth.
