WACO, Texas --- Baylor softball senior catcher Chelsi Lake was named first-team ESPN.com Preseason All-America in a list released by the popular website on Tuesday. Lake's selection marks the first time a Baylor player has been selected to the website's preseason All-America team.
Last season, Lake led the team with a .362 batting average while hitting a school record 18 home runs. She was a first-team All-Big 12 Conference selection in addition to earning first-team NFCA All-Midwest Region honors.
Lake was one of two Big 12 Conference players selected to the list as Norrelle Dickson of Oklahoma was selected as a second-team outfielder.
Lake and the No. 18 Lady Bears open up the 2007 season on Friday, Feb. 9, when Baylor hosts Southern Miss at 4:15 p.m. at the Getterman Classic.
