DALLAS, Texas --- For her performance at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational this past weekend, Baylor softball first baseman Ashley Monceaux has been named Big 12 Conference Player of the Week the conference office announced on Tuesday. The selection is the first of Monceaux's career and the 10th time a Baylor player has picked up the conference player of the week honor.
Monceaux tallied a .600 batting average, four home runs and 10 RBI on the week as the No. 16 Lady Bears finished in second place with a record of 4-2 at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational. Monceaux led the tournament field in nearly every hitting category, posting a 1.600 slugging percentage and .727 on base percentage in addition to recording seven walks.
She added three doubles and six runs scored to the Baylor effort, while collecting a RBI in five of six games and a hit in every contest to extend her hitting streak to 12 games. The Tucson, Ariz. native was selected to the all-tournament team for her performance.
Meagan Denny of Texas was selected as the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week.
After a doubleheader against Houston on Tuesday, Feb. 20, Monceaux and the Lady Bears will return to action on Friday, Feb. 23, when they begin play at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga., against Georgia Tech at 11:00 a.m.
