WACO, Texas --- The No. 16 Baylor softball team returns to action this week as the Lady Bears host Houston for a doubleheader on Tuesday, Feb. 20, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.

Baylor (10-2) is coming off a 4-2 weekend at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational as the Lady Bears advanced to the championship game of the tournament before falling to No. 13 Louisiana-Lafayette, 8-3, in the title contest.

Ashley Monceaux leads the Lady Bears heading into the week as the senior first baseman leads the Big 12 Conference with a .632 batting average, seven home runs and 21 RBI. At the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational, Monceaux hit .600 with four home runs and 10 RBI as she earned all-tournament honors.

Baylor will likely throw a number of pitchers in the circle against the Cougars as freshman Kirsten Shortridge leads the way for the Lady Bears staff in the early portion of the season, posting a 4-0 record with a 1.13 ERA in 31.0 innings of work.

Houston enters the doubleheader with a 6-4 record after going 3-2 at the Crowne Plaza Classic, including a close loss to No. 5 LSU. The Cougars are led by Jessica Valis, who leads the team with a .429 average and seven runs scored. Angel Shamblin paces the Cougars in the circle, posting a 4-2 record and 1.15 ERA on the season in 36.2 innings of work.
