Baylor hits the road for its final non-conference match of the season as the Bears face off against TCU on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the University Recreation Center.
The Bears are coming off a 3-2 win against Colorado on Saturday, its second-straight 3-2 win in league play. Last Wednesday, Baylor rallied to defeat Kansas 3-2 in Lawrence. With its 3-2 win at Colorado on Sept. 19, Baylor secures its first-ever sweep of the Buffaloes. The Bears are now 3-0 in five-game matches in Big 12 action this season.
Baylor was led on the night by Katie Sanders with 20 kills and 16 digs, marking her 14th double-double of the season. Anna Breyfogle added 14 kills and eight total blocks (one solo), while Amanda Modglin tallied a career-best 13 kills on .565 hitting and eight total blocks.
Baylor placed a season-high five players in double-figure digs, led by Taylor Barnes' career-high 19 digs. Sanders added 16, while Sarah Grace contributed 15 digs. Kristen Schramek and Kelsey Smith tallied 14 and 11 digs, respectively.
Baylor came out strong in game one, winning 30-22 with 23 kills on .455 hitting, but Colorado took a 2-1 advantage winning games two and three. The Bears powered back in game four to even the series, hitting .375 (15-3-32) and recording four total blocks. Baylor cruised through the deciding fifth game, winning 15-9.
TCU enters the match following a 3-1 loss at Wyoming on Friday night. The Horned Frogs have lost six of their last nine matches, but enjoyed a winning streak of 15 of 17 matches to open the season. TCU is currently fifth in the Mountain West Conference with a 5-5 league record.
Baylor and TCU have played three common opponents this season: Sam Houston State, Texas State and Oklahoma. TCU defeated Sam Houston State 3-0 before dropping a 3-0 decision to Texas State and a 3-2 loss to Oklahoma.
