HOUSTON, Texas - Baylor's No. 6 women's tennis team opened the spring with a solid 7-0 victory over No. 64 Rice Sat., Jan. 20 despite rescheduling due to poor weather conditions. The match was originally set to be played at the Baylor Tennis Center in Waco but was moved midweek to Houston's indoor facility, the Jewish Community Center.

After picking up the doubles point with wins on courts two and three, the Bears breezed through singles to tally the remaining six points. Zuzana Zemenova opened on court one continuing to dominate as Baylor's top singles player. Other veterans Klara Zrustova and Iva Mihaylova picked up wins on courts four and six, respectively.

Three rookies began their dual match careers for Baylor with singles win. Freshmen Jessica Zok premiered with a win on court two and Lenka Broosova picked up a win on court four. Sophomore transfer Jana Bielikova earned her first win as a Bear on court six.

Baylor returns to action Sun., Jan 28 traveling to Athens, Ga., to take on the Georgia Bulldogs at 1 p.m. Results for the match will be available at www.baylorbears.com.
