PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Baylor's women's tennis team opened the spring season sending three Bears to the pre-qualifying rounds of the Pacific Life Open in Palm Springs, Calif. Senior Zuzana Cerna and freshman Zuzana Chmelarova and Jessica Zok traveled to the coast to participate in the tournament.
All three girls dropped their first singles matches and a doubles match. No. 91 Cerna fell in three sets to UCLA's Yasmin Schnack 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-0. No. 38 Zok dropped a match 6-3, 6-3 to USC's Dianne Matias, and Chmelarova lost 6-4, 6-0 to Georgia Tech's Amanda McDowell.
The Bears will open their home season Sat., Jan. 20 hosting a pair of matches. Baylor welcomes UT-Arlington and Rice to the Baylor Tennis Center and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. Scoring updates will be posted at www.baylorbears.com.
