Clemons spent three seasons at
A 1994 All-America and All-Southwest Conference selection at Texas A&M, Clemons pitched for the Aggies' 1993 College World Series team.
Clemons was selected by the Chicago White Sox with the 33rd overall selection in the first round of the 1994 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. He spent eight seasons in professional baseball with the White Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins organizations. Clemons reached the Majors in 1997, when he appeared in five games with two starts for the White Sox.
