HOUSTON, Texas - After just 23 minutes of play, Baylor's NCAA Houston Regional first-round game against No. 16 Arizona State at Rice's Reckling Park was suspended due to inclement weather Friday night. The game will resume Saturday at 4 p.m. CDT.
Neither team scored in the first inning. Tim Jackson singled up the middle with one out in the top of the second amidst a steady drizzle. As Beamer Weems climbed into the batter's box, the drizzle tuned into a steady down pour. Home-plate umpire Paul Guillie ordered the teams off the field at 8:39 p.m., and the game was officially suspended at 9:41 p.m.
The winner of the Baylor-Arizona State game will play second-seeded Rice at 1 p.m. Sunday. The loser of the Baylor-Arizona State game will play fourth-seeded Prairie A&M at 8 p.m. Saturday.
