Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-America Teams

WACO, Texas - Baylor softball players Brette Reagan and Chelsi Lake have been named NFCA All-Americans the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Wednesday. Reagan earned second-team honors at third base while Lake was a third-team, at-large selection.

"Brette (Reagan) and Chelsi (Lake) are very deserving of this honor," head coach Glenn Moore said. "It is very exciting to have two all-American players returning to our program next season and I think it speaks volumes about how hard our players have worked to help Baylor softball reach a national-level of respect."

Reagan, who was named Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year, becomes the first player in school history to be named all-American as a freshman. The Tomball, Texas, native batted .355 on the season with 12 home runs and 44 RBI as she established freshman records in nearly every hitting category.

The third baseman becomes the first player in school history to be higher than a third-team selection to the all-American squad as she ranked in the top 10 in the Big 12 Conference in seven batting categories.

Lake earns third-team honors after a season in which she established a new school record with 18 home runs while leading the team with a .362 average and 52 RBI. The catcher ranked second in the Big 12 Conference in home runs as she finished the season ranked 18th in the country with 0.3 home runs per game and 24th in the nation with a .741 slugging percentage.

Lake and Reagan, who both earned first-team All-Big 12 Conference and NFCA All-Midwest region honors, join Harmony Schwethelm (3rd team, 2005) and Naomi Fitzgerald (3rd team, 2000) as the only players in school history to be named NFCA All-American.

Baylor and Oklahoma were the only Big 12 Conference schools to place two players on the all-American squad as Serena Settlemeier of Kansas and Cat Osterman of Texas were also named to one of the three teams.

All three teams were selected by NFCA-member, NCAA Division I coaching representatives, based on nominations from the 2006 season.
