WACO, Texas - Former Baylor track standout Elizabeth Wilson has joined the Baylor softball team to serve as a pinch-runner for the duration of the 2006 season, head coach Glenn Moore announced Monday. Wilson, a fifth-year senior from Duncanville, Texas, will be in uniform and available for Baylor's doubleheader with Sam Houston State on Wednesday, April 5.

The fifth-year senior from Duncanville High School, who has never played competitive softball before, joins the No. 20 Lady Bears after a terrific, four-year career as a member of the Baylor track and field team. Wilson, a three-time all region selection, was the 2005 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field champion in the 200-meter dash and was the former school record holder in the event with a time of 23.53.

Wilson earned seven All-Big 12 Conference honors during her career, including a pair of all-conference honors at the 2005 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, finishing third and seventh in the events, respectively.

The senior, who has one year of eligibility left in a different sport under NCAA guidelines, will join the team and serve as a pinch-runner for the Lady Bears in certain situations.

Wilson and the Lady Bears will return to action on Wednesday, April 5, when Baylor travels to Huntsville, Texas, to take on Sam Houston State in a doubleheader beginning at 5:00 p.m.
