WACO, Texas - The No. 19 Baylor softball team concludes a five-game road swing through Big 12 Conference play when the Lady Bears travel to Stillwater, Okla., for a two-game series against Oklahoma State beginning on Saturday, April 22, at 2:00 p.m. Baylor and the Cowgirls conclude the two-game series on Sunday, April 23, at 1:00 p.m.
Baylor enters the key series riding a three-game winning streak. After defeating No. 15 Texas A&M on Wednesday, the Lady Bears swept a double header from Nicholls State on Thursday to improve to 31-17 on the year. Baylor enters the series with a record of 8-5 in conference play as the Lady Bears are currently tied with Nebraska for third-place in the Big 12 Conference standings.
Junior catcher Chelsi Lake leads the way for Baylor, leading the team with a .380 batting average, 16 home runs and 47 RBI. Senior Kelly Osburn has also been swinging a hot bat for the Lady Bears as she is currently hitting .343 on the season with 13 home runs and 32 RBI.
Right-hander Lisa Ferguson leads the way for Baylor in the circle as the junior has posted a 16-11 record on the season with a 1.47 ERA in 162.0 innings of work.
Oklahoma State, which is hosting Baylor on Senior Weekend, enters the series riding a winning streak of their own after sweeping Texas Tech in a midweek doubleheader. The Cowgirls (19-22, 5-8) are led by Shanel Scott who leads the team with a .342 average. Kim Kaye provides the pop in the Oklahoma State line-up, leading the team with nine home runs and 40 RBI. In the circle, Jessica Hoppock sees most of the action as she has posted a 12-15 record with a 3.45 ERA in 178.1 innings of work.
The two teams split in Waco last season as Oklahoma State owns a 22-10 record all-time against the Lady Bears.
