WACO, Texas - After an impressive 5-0 win over No. 15 Texas A&M, the No. 19 Baylor softball team returns home for a non-conference doubleheader against Nicholls State on Thursday, April 20, at 4:00 p.m. The meeting between the Lady Bears and the Colonels will be the first between the two schools since 1988, when Baylor claimed a 4-1 victory over Nicholls in Houston.
Chelsi Lake leads the way for Baylor as the junior leads the team with 16 home runs and 47 RBI while batting an impressive .382 on the season. Big 12 Conference Player of the Week Kelly Osburn has also carried a hot bat for the Lady Bears as the senior recently became the first player in Big 12 history to surpass 200 hits, 150 runs scored, 30 home runs, 40 doubles, 100 RBI, 100 walks and 75 stolen bases for her career.
For Nicholls State (19-25), which is coming off a mid-week doubleheader sweep of Louisiana State, Kathryn Harrell leads the way with an impressive .418 batting average and 38 runs scored. Ally May leads the Colonels in the circle with a 5-5 record and 3.00 ERA in 60.2 innings of work.
