WACO, Texas - The No. 18 Baylor softball team returns to action this week as the Lady Bears host Northwestern State in a mid-week contest on Wednesday, April 12, at 4:30 p.m. The meeting marks the second time the teams will face each other this year after Baylor picked up a 3-2 victory over the Demons at the Houston Hobby Invitational.
Baylor (26-16) enters the contest after splitting a doubleheader against Oklahoma on Monday. The Lady Bears are led by freshman Brette Reagan who leads the team with a .392 batting average and 36 runs scored. Junior Chelsi Lake, who was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Week this week, enters the single game leading the Lady Bears with 14 home runs and 42 RBI as she enters the contest with an impressive .371 batting average.
In the circle, Baylor features six pitchers who could all see action against Northwestern State. In the first contest this year, freshman Brittany Turner pitched four innings, allowing two unearned runs, before senior Tessa Lynam came into the game and tossed three innings of one-hit, scoreless relief to pick up the victory.
After being swept in a three-game series against Texas State this past weekend, Northwestern State enters the contest with a record of 19-26.
The Demons are led at the plate by Sarina Noack, who leads the team with a .353 average and ranks second on the team with 25 runs scored.
In the circle, Northwestern State features Amanda Glenn who has posted an 8-18 record on the season and 3.11 ERA in 157.1 innings of work.
Baylor head coach Glenn Moore is a graduate and former assistant coach of Northwestern State as the sixth-year Lady Bears coach owns a 10-1 record at BU against his alma mater.
The Lady Bears lead the all-time series 13-2 as Baylor owns a record of 7-1 against the Demons in games played in Waco.
