COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 20 Baylor softball team pounded out 11 hits as starting pitcher Lisa Ferguson kept a powerful Missouri line-up in check as the Lady Bears cruised to a 7-0 win over the Tigers in Big 12 Conference action on Saturday. With the win, Baylor improves to 21-14 on the season, 3-2 in conference play, as Missouri falls to 18-14, 2-1 in Big 12 play, with the loss.

Baylor got on the board first with three runs in the fourth to grab an early, 3-0 lead. With two outs, Chelsi Lake blasted a 2-2 pitch over the right center field wall, scoring Brette Reagan from second, as the Lady Bears went up on the Tigers, 2-0. The home run was Lake's ninth of the season and the 25th of the junior catcher's career.

The Lady Bears added another run in the inning when a fielding error on Jordan Daniel's single allowed Tessa Lynam to score from second as Baylor claimed a three-run advantage.

Baylor extended the lead in the fifth when Kelly Osburn doubled home Kylie Conroy and Miriam Romero to make the score 5-0. The double was Osburn's second of the game and 39th of her career as the junior surpassed Sarah Caudle (38, 2000-03) for the school's career lead in the category.

After adding an unearned run in the sixth, Lake's RBI double in the seventh made the score 7-0 as Ferguson retired the Tigers in the bottom of the inning as Baylor picked up the victory.

Ferguson tossed her seventh shutout of the season and improved to 12-8 on the year after allowing no runs on only four hits while striking out six in seven innings of work. The shutout victory was the third for Ferguson in her last four outings and was the 18th of her career, moving the junior into a tie for third with Cristin Vitek (2002-05) on the Baylor career list.

Jen Bruck took the loss for Missouri and fell to 16-9 on the season after allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings of work.

Lake led the way for Baylor with two hits and three RBI as eight-of-nine players in the Baylor starting line-up collected a hit.

Baylor will go for the series sweep when the teams meet on Sunday, April 2, at 12:00 p.m. The game time was moved up one hour from its scheduled start due to travel plans and the threat of inclement weather forecast for Sunday.
