Women's Golf Signs Morgan Chambers

WACO, Texas - Morgan Chambers has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at Baylor, head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon announced Wednesday.

"Morgan matches all of the criteria I look for in an athlete...very athletic, success in the sport at the national level, high academics and great character," Ferdon said. "Morgan is a perfect fit for Baylor women's golf."

Chambers, a junior at Purcell High School in Purcell, Okla., is ranked second in Oklahoma by the Junior Golf Scoreboard National Rankings and 131st in the nation. She led her team to three 3A State Team Championship and was the 3A individual Oklahoma State Champion in 2004 and 2006.

Chambers was named 2006 AJGA Academic All-American, receiving a bid, and also 2006 Daily Oklahoman Player of the Year. She was also runner-up at the 2006 Abilene AJGA Tournament and champion at the November 2006 Links at Water Chase Texas Junior tournament after shooting 73-72.

Chambers will play the AJGA tournament as well as the Polo Golf Junior Classic Nov. 18-24 at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simon's Island, Ga.

"I consider Morgan to be one of the top recruits in the Texas-Oklahoma Region" Ferdon said. "It says a lot about our program and our university to attract such a highly ranked junior to be a Baylor Bear."
