The Baylor men's golf "green" team shot a final-round 295 for a total of 594 to finish third at the Battle of the Bend Tuesday at the 6,707-yard, par-72 Cypress Bend Golf Club.
Senior Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) shot a 73 in the final round and tied for fifth with a total of 147, while senior Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas) also fired a 73 and tied for 13th at 149.
Junior Matt Briggs (San Antonio, Texas) and sophomore Carmine Mediate (Southlake, Texas) tied for 24th at 151, while redshirt freshman Weldon Martin (Houston, Texas) tied for 30th at 152. Briggs carded a 78 in the final round, while Mediate fired a 75 and Martin shot a 74.
Sam Houston State claimed the team title with a 585, two strokes ahead of UT-San Antonio at 587. Sam Houston State's Fergal Rafferty won the individual crown by two strokes with a total of 142, shooting rounds of 73 and 69.
The Bears return to action at the Louisiana Classics March 5-6 in Lafayette, La.
