WACO, Texas -- Baylor's 2006 baseball team will face a team comprised of former Bears currently active in professional baseball in the inaugural Baylor Pro-Alumni Game at 2 p.m. CST Sunday, Feb. 5, at Baylor Ballpark. Admission is free and open to the public.
The game concludes Baylor's Alumni Weekend, which starts Saturday, Feb. 4, with a 3:30 p.m. alumni practice/workout at Baylor Ballpark. The practice session also is open to the public.
Nearly all 25 current Baylor professional players will be in attendance for the game, including Jason Jennings of the Colorado Rockies and Kip Wells of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Also, all nine members of the 2005 team that signed professional contracts at season's end will be in attendance.
"This is a great opportunity for our fans not only to get a preview of this year's team but to see some of the program's legends in action," head coach Steve Smith said. "It truly will be a great experience to have all these guys back at Baylor Ballpark."
Gates open for the Pro-Alumni Game at 11:50 a.m.; batting practice begins at noon. Fans will have a chance to meet the Pro-Alumni team during an autograph session from 12:50 p.m. to 1:20 p.m.
Select-A-Seat Day will occur in conjunction with the Pro-Alumni Game. Fans will be able to purchase baseball season tickets for selected seats by taking the tag sheets off of the marked seats they want to purchase. Fans can remove the tag sheets and take them to the Select-A-Seat sign up table, located below the Press Box, where tickets may be purchased. Fans can bring tag sheets up for purchase throughout the game and until 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game.
Baylor begins its 2006 season in earnest Feb. 10-12, hosting Stephen F. Austin for a three-game series at Baylor Ballpark.
