Recap | Box Score | Notes
Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew:
"It was tough... we had so many sloppy shots and had so many turnovers. Basketball wise, coming into the first few games of the season, some of those things are expected... I think that having 17 offensive rebounds was outstanding... and our defense has improved as we held them to 2-of-13 from three and forced 23 turnovers."
On miscues:
"It seemed like there was a lid on the basket. The good thing is we are in a position to get those opportunities whereas in years past we might not have. When you play young guys you're going to have those moments. But the desire was there and the hustle and hard work... The missed lay-ups and poor free throw shooting is difficult... but I don't think we will be in that situation down the road."
On breakdowns on defense:
"Johnson made some real tough shots. You can only do so much and if he makes those then you can only tip your hat to him."
Baylor guard Aaron Bruce:
"I'm disappointed in myself that I couldn't help the team (in scoring)."
Baylor center Mamadou Diene:
"It was great to play (at home). I don't have any family here but it felt like home to me and it felt great."
Oklahoma State head coach Eddie Sutton:
"Baylor is a little like our club and several other clubs in the league, very young. It's really a disadvantage when you can't play non-conference games. You can practice against each other all the time but it's not the same as a game situation. You don't get the things down like timing...Baylor has great talent and I would be surprised if down the road they are not a good team because the talent is there."
On OSU Defense:
"We did a good job on (shutting down) (Tim) Bush and (Aaron) Bruce. I will have completely white hair by the end of the season because when you coach young guys they stress you out. I was happy to win the game. I really thought it would be a tough game and it was a lot closer than the final score reflected."
On OSU problems:
"Our biggest problem is with our guards. They turn the ball over too much on dumb mistakes and you can't do that against top teams in this conference like Texas and Oklahoma. Our defense was really important and we knew this was the first home game these fans have seen in over a year and the fans were good but it is hard to stay in the game your team falls behind and we wanted to jump out early and put the fans back in their seats and we were able to that."
Oklahoma State forward Torre Johnson:
"After the suspension, I sat down and talked with the players and coaches and I tried to figure out what they wanted from me and what they expect from me. I'm very comfortable in my position and there is a lot you can learn off the bench like how the referees are calling and how certain players are going to play. You get to see a lot that you might not get to see from a starter position... This win really boosts our confidence especially our confidence on the road which is really important in a tough conference like this."
Oklahoma State forward Mario Boggan:
"We really talked and helped each other out on defense. It's really good for a team like ours to come out and get a win on the road. We've really been stressing the defense and we came and really got it done on defense."
