Bears will take on the Longhorns in the Alamo City for the 264th all-time meeting
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball restores a historic rivalry with the Texas Longhorns in the San Antonio Hoops Showdown on Nov. 15, a neutral-site matchup at Frost Bank Center.
The two Texas-based teams will meet in San Antonio for the 264th all-time meeting and the first since 2024, when the Longhorns played their final season in the Big 12 Conference. Television designation and game time will be announced in the coming weeks. Intersport, a Chicago-based sports marketing and events agency, will manage all aspects of the event.
"The state of Texas has always been home to outstanding college basketball, and anytime you have two in-state programs like Baylor and Texas competing on a neutral floor, it's great for the game," head coach Scott Drew said. "We're excited about the opportunity to play in front of what should be a terrific atmosphere in San Antonio. It'll be good for both programs and great for college basketball in our home state."
Tickets for the event will go on sale starting October 1, with a one-day presale taking place the day prior. Fans can log on to the Frost Bank Center website and register to receive dedicated event information and be eligible for ticket presale access.
Texas holds a 165-98 advantage in the all-time series. However, Baylor has won 12 of the past 15 meetings. Before Texas moved to the SEC, the two programs met at least once every year since 1909 as longtime members of the Southwest Conference and the Big 12. Of the 263 previous meetings, only 16 have been played at neutral sites, with the most recent coming in 2016 in Kansas City.
The Bears head to San Antonio for the first time since the 2014 NCAA Tournament, where Baylor earned two wins to advance to the Sweet 16. Frost Bank Center will serve as a host site for the South Regional on March 25 & 27 in the 2027 NCAA Tournament.
