WACO, Texas --- Baylor softball outfielder Harmony Schwethelm has been named second-team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday. With the selection, Schwethelm joins Naomi Fitzgerald (third team, 2000) as the only Baylor softball players to be named to the All-America team.

"Harmony (Schwethelm) is very deserving of this award," head coach Glenn Moore said. "She has worked extremely hard and is the epitome of what an All-American should be. Her play throughout the year was one of the main reasons we were successful this season."

Schwethelm, who earned first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors this season, ranked third on the team with a .360 average and ranked second on the team with 54 runs scored this year. The junior led the team and established a new school record with 36 stolen bases this past season.

The native of San Antonio, Texas, also established new school records and led the team with 81 hits this season and six triples.

Schwethelm made only two errors in the field and recorded a team-leading 11 outfield assists this season. Of her 11 assists from center field, eight prevented runners from scoring at home.

The All-America selection adds to a long list of athletic accomplishments for Schwethelm. The outfielder was a first-team All-Big 12 Conference selection last season and was named to the NFCA All-Midwest Region team this year. Tessa Lynam, Kim Wilmoth and Chelsi Lake joined Schwethelm on the all-region team this season.

All three teams were selected by NFCA-member, NCAA Division I coaching representatives, based on nominations from the 2005 season.
