Baylor head coach Steve Smith
"I would just like to commend Clemson because they have got a great club. We have played a lot of really good teams this year. They are very athletic and they have got great balance in their line-up. The best news for their program and for their fans is that they are very young. It is truly amazing to me that they had the kind of year. They did it with a true freshman in the middle of the infield. You just don't see that at second and shortstop."
On Cory VanAllen's performance:
"Cory didn't throw any differently today than he's thrown most of the year. He made a mistake to (Kris)Harvey and he's good enough to make him pay for it. I wasn't going to let him face him again if anyone was on. But; he competed, and I told you guys before we started that the best thing about him was his temperament. He is a very even-tempered kid and I didn't think that this type of game was one that would rattle him. It was just a question if he could handle their lineup a little bit and I did think he had a better slider today than what I have seen. That was important with the amount of left-handers they have in their line-up."
Baylor Catcher Josh Ford
On Going to Omaha:
"It feels great. Especially for us seniors that have been here for four years. We have battled since day one since we stepped on campus and I cannot be happier and more proud for the guys."
Baylor Pitcher Cory VanAllen:
On his performance today:
"They are a good hitting club and they are very aggressive and we knew that coming into the series. A lot of times, I'm too much around the plate and giving the hitters good pitches to hit. I tried to move off the plate a little bit. We used the slider a lot today. Josh (Ford) called a great game behind the plate and I have all the confidence in the world with him back there."
Baylor Pitcher Ryan LaMotta
On his performance today:
"I threw a lot of change-ups the first inning I was in and then after that we mixed it up depending on who was up there. I think Josh knew the hitters pretty well from seeing them all weekend and made some good calls back there."
Baylor Outfielder Kevin Sevigny
On breaking out of a slump:
"I have been hitting the ball hard; but, I just haven't gotten the breaks. I have been hitting the ball right at people so I wouldn't really call it a slump. I have been taking good swings and I was just hoping to get one to fall. Finally, it did. I am just happy that we came up on top."
Clemson head coach Jack Leggett
"I thought it was a good ball game; but, we just couldn't make our hits count. We had nine hits and only one run to show for it and they(Baylor) made their eight hits count. But, Robert(Rohrbaugh) pitched pretty well. There were just a couple pitches I think he would like to have back. I thought he battled for us and Kopp did a pretty good job; but, we just couldnt piece enough hits together."
Clemson Designated hitter Kris Harvey
On What was the Difference in the Series:
"They're pitching. They out-pitched our hitting basically. They didn't make any mistakes and that pretty much made the series since they held us to one run on both days."
On Baylor's Pitching Compared to Others:
"We have seen good pitching all year. These guys were just on their game when they had to be. They made big pitches and they didn't leave anything up and that's just the way it goes."
Clemson First Baseman Andy D'Alesio
On Cory VanAllen's Pitching:
"He(VanAllen) was working away, keeping the ball down and mixing his off-speed and not giving us too much to hit. You know he did a good job out there keeping the ball down and keeping us off balance in the box."
