CLEARWATER, Fla. - The No. 9 Baylor softball team advanced to the Speedline Classic title game with a 10-2 win in six innings over UMass in action at Edward C. Moore Field. With the win, Baylor improved to 27-3 on the season as UMass dropped to 7-8.
Baylor advanced to the title game against Oklahoma State, however, due to time constraints, the game was cancelled and the teams were declared co-champions of the tournament.
Tessa Lynam blasted two home runs and added five RBI in the win while Cristin Vitek picked up her 10th win of the season to move to 10-2 on the year.
Lisa Ferguson worked the final 1.2 innings of relief to record her second save of the season and the 10th of her career, tying the school record for most career saves.
Baylor will return to action on Tuesday, March 15, when the Lady Bears travel to face Northwestern (La.) State in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m.
