The Baylor women's golf team will travel to College Station to compete in the 2004 Big 12 Championship hosted by Texas A&M Friday through Sunday at Pebble Creek Country Club.

The Bears are coming off a third-place finish at the Susie Maxwell-Berning Classic two weeks ago in Norman, Okla. Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson tied for third to lead the Bears, while senior Michaelyn Morgan and sophomore Meredith Jones tied for 25th.

The tournament will feature all the Big 12 teams: Baylor, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas, Kansas State, Missiouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.

The Bears will return to action at the NCAA Central Regional May 6-8 at the Illinois State University Golf Course in Normal, Ill.

Baylor at the Big 12 Championship
The Bears finished seventh in 2003, fourth in 2002 and third in 2001, their highest finish in the seven-year history of the event...Oklahoma State has won three-straight Big 12 titles.

Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson ranks eighth in the Big 12 with a 75.40 stroke average...October's Big 12 Golfer of the Month has posted five Top-10 finishes this year, including a victory at the adidas Fall Invitational and a third-place showing in her last outing at the Susie Maxwell-Berning Classic.

Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson has been outstanding all year, while freshman Anna Rehnholm and seniors Michaelyn Morgan and Kelli McKandless have been steady...The Bears' "X-Factor" could be sophomore transfer Meredith Jones, who is playing nearly three strokes better this spring than she did in the fall...Jones, who averaged 80.56 strokes in the fall and never finished higher than 55th, is averaging 77.66 in the spring and has three Top-25 finishes, including a career-high finish of eighth (tie) to lead the Bears at the BU-Tapatio Springs Shootout.
