BOERNE, Texas -
Indiana fired a team 17-over 305 Sunday and cruised to a 14-stroke victory at the 2004 Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout, the fourth annual collegiate women's golf tournament at Tapatio Springs Golf Resort in Boerne, Texas.
Wisconsin's Malinda Johnson shot a third-round one-under-par 71 Sunday to win individual medalist honors with a three-round one-over 217. The Badger senior topped the field of 113 student-athletes.
The Hoosiers, behind the senior duo of Karen Dennison and Danah Ford, extended their second-round 10-stroke lead with Sunday's performance to finish with a three-round 896. Dennison fired a third-round one-over 73 and was the medalist runner-up (218), and Ford shot a five-over 77 Sunday to place third overall (219).
Missouri carded a team 15-over 303 Sunday to move from third to second (909) in the final standings. Texas Tech, the first-round leader, dropped to third (910) after shooting a 21-over 309 in Round Three.
Host Baylor finished fourth (926) after shooting a 319 Sunday, and Wisconsin place fifth (931) after carding a third-round 312. Rounding out the top 10 were Rollins College (sixth place - 933), New Mexico State, Illinois and Iowa (tied for seventh place - 941), and UTEP (10th place - 948).
Texas Tech's Sheila Mendez finished fourth among individuals with a six-over 222, and Missouri's Maria Ohlsson placed fifth at 224.
The 19-team field included four Big 12 schools and five Big 10 schools.
Baylor was led by sophomore Meredith Jones, who shot a team-best five-over 77 Sunday to finish tied for eighth at 228. Senior Kelli McKandless ranked in a 15th-place tie at 232 after carding a third-round 82. Rounding out the scoring for the Bears was freshman Anna Rehnholm (234, 22nd), sophomore Josefin Svenningsson (236, 32nd) and senior Michaelyn Morgan (236, 32nd).
Tapatio Springs Golf Resort is a 6,007-yard, par 72 course northwest of San Antonio.
