Waco, Texas -The Baylor Lady Bears softball team will play a doubleheader with Houston at Getterman Stadium on Monday, March 15, before hitting the road to face Sam Houston State and McNeese State in a pair of doubleheaders later in the week.

First pitch against the Cougars is slated for 5:00 p.m.

Baylor enters the week with a record of 22-6, the best start since the team went 24-4 to start the 2002 season. The Lady Bears will look to avenge a loss to Houston earlier in the season, when the Cougars defeated Baylor 2-1 at the Houston Invitational.

On the mound, the Cougars have Jenny Johnson, who has posted an impressive ERA of 0.39 in 90 innings of work.

Houston comes into the doubleheader with the Lady Bears on a hot streak, having won 12 of its last 14 games. The Cougars currently stand at 23-8 on the season, including a victory over No. 5 Oklahoma.

The doubleheader with Sam Houston State will mark the second time the Lady Bears have faced the Bearkats. At the Houston Invitational earlier in the season, Baylor defeated Sam Houston State 5-1 behind the pitching of Cristin Vitek.

Following the doubleheader with the Bearkats, the road swing will continue with a meeting against McNeese State in Lake Charles, La., on Wednesday, March 16. It will mark the first meeting between the squads this season as Baylor currently holds a series lead of 8-4 over the Cowgirls.

The last meeting between the two teams came in 2003, as the Lady Bears defeated the Cowgirls 2-0 in February 2002.

Following the meeting with the Cowgirls, the Lady Bears will be off for a week before hosting Texas-Arlington on Wednesday, March 24, at Getterman Stadium. Baylor will then entertain Kansas to open t he Big 12 Conference schedule on Saturday, March 27.
