WACO, Texas - Former Baylor golfer Jimmy Walker led the Nationwide Tour in earnings this year to earn his PGA Tour card for 2005. The Nationwide Tour season ended with the Nationwide Tour Championship Sunday, where Walker tied for 31st.
Walker earned $367,283 this season, his third on the Nationwide Tour. Walker posted his first two professional victories this year at the BellSouth Panama Championship and the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. His second victory came in only the fourth event of the season, a new tour record. Walker also had seven top-10 finishes.
Walker came to Baylor from Canyon High School in New Braunfels. Walker was named a PING/GCAA All-American in 2001 and is the only four-time all-conference selection in school history, earning All-Big 12 honors from 1998-2001. Walker is the Bears' all-time leader with 26 career top-10 and 19 career top-5 finishes and has the lowest career scoring average at 71.55.
The 2005 PGA Tour season kicks off with the Mercedes Championships at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Kapalua, Hawai'I Jan. 1-5, 2005. The purse for the event is $5.3 million and will be televised on ESPN.
