SOMIS, Calif. - The Baylor men's golf team opened with a solid round of 292 to stand in fifth, but a 303 in the afternoon dropped the Bears to 10th Monday at the Pepperdine Club Glove Intercollegiate at the 6,858-yard, par-72 Saticoy Country Club.
Sophomore Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) shot a 1-under par 71, followed by a 74 to tie for 13th. Sophomore Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) fired a 3-under 69 in the first round, but shot a 77 in the second to tie for 18th.
Sophomore Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) is tied for 34th at 149 after rounds of 75 and 74. Sophomore Brian Meck (Austin, Texas) is tied for 52nd at 157 (77-80), while sophomore Dusty Isabell (Athens, Texas) is tied for 54th at 158 (80-78).
Host Pepperdine leads the tournament at 3-under 573 (289-284), three strokes ahead of Arizona State. SMU and Coastal Carolina are tied for third at 579, followed by UC-Irvine at 580.
Pepperdine's Michael Putnam leads the individual competition at 7-under 137 (67-70), followed by three players tied for second at 4-under.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the third round.
