ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Baylor men's golf team shot rounds of 300 and 293 and are in 13th after the first day of the William H. Tucker hosted by New Mexico Friday at the University's 7,354-yard, par-72 Championship Course.
Sophomore Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) shot consecutive rounds of 1-under par 71 and is tied for eighth at 142. Sophomore Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) is tied for 37th at 148 with rounds of 75 and 73.
Sophomore Dusty Isabell (Athens, Texas) shot rounds of 76 and 74 and is tied for 56th at 150. Sophomore Matt Briggs (San Antonio, Texas) is tied for 84th at 154 with rounds of 78 and 76, while sophomore Brian Meck (Austin, Texas) is one shot behind him at 155 with an 80 and a 75.
Arizona leads the tournament at 13-under par 563 (279-284), while New Mexico trails by six. Nevada and UNLV are tied for third, 14 strokes behind at 577. Arizona's Henry Liaw leads the individual scoring at 9-under 135, one stroke ahead of New Mexico's Spencer Levin with a 71 and a 65. Two others are tied for third at 5-under par.
The tournament concludes with the third round Saturday.
