Men's Golf Finishes 16th in New Mexico

WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's golf team completed competition in the William H. Tucker Collegiate Invitational on Saturday in Albuquerque, finishing the tournament in a tie for 16th place. Sophomore Will Doughtie took medalist honors for the Bears by placing eighth.

Arizona State maintained the lead it established on the first day and won the 54-hole tournament by two strokes over host New Mexico. The Sun Devils shot an 865 for the tournament while the Lobos finished with an 867, Baylor slipped from a tie for 14th after the first day of competition to a tie for 16th place on Saturday. The Bears put together rounds of 303, 295 and 305 to finish with a 903 which tied them with New Mexico State.

Doughtie was by far the best Baylor performer, beating his next closest teammate by 10 strokes. The 6-2 Amarillo native shot rounds of 74, 70 and 72 to finish with a 216 which tied him with two others for eighth. Other Baylor finishers were: Jeremy Frye - T53 (226), Ryan Baca - T82 (232), Jon Antunes - T82 (232), Will McDonald - T92 (234).
